The Picton Street Winter Fayre

This was such a cute fayre! All day and evening, lots of local arts and crafts, food and drink and music. I sold my cards, books and artwork from a basket on the back of my bike, I wheeled it up and down the street selling my wares!
Here I am outside No.21
Welcome to Montpelier!

The Window Shop!
The view from the top of Picton Street
Present bunting!

My bike all lit up after dark!

A puff of mulled cider steam rising up in to the night..
An intruiging looking stall.

Watching the music

A band plays and couple kiss :)
It was such a lovely day with such a lovely atmosphere. This is what makes a community stronger, and puts a little more love in to the world. Little pockets of wholesome unity.

Come on down for story time! I will be with 2 other great story-tellers, you can find us in the barn next to the goats, amongst the straw bales and bunting.

The Grandaddy of all trees

I think this it the Wise old Grandaddy Tree of all trees in the world.. He sits deep in the middle of the Red Forest, in a secret location you can only find if the Faer Forest Folk smile upon you, once on the day of a Blue Moon. And they whisper a trail of cryptic clues that will lead down twisting turning paths and eventually to the Grandaddy... standing silently, surrounded by a protective faerie ring of trees reaching 400feet tall and 20feet wide.

I was lucky enough to visit the Redwood forest, California recently. We camped and hiked amongst the trees for 3 nights - those forests certainly have some magic amongst them. I really felt like they were whispering and communicating while we walked amongst them, we were so tiny! Some of those trees are over 2000 years old... just imagine 2000 years of strong, solid, living tree energy vibrating through the earth! I think it's quite healing to walk amongst those trees, absorbing their magic :)

The Portlaroid!

In keeping with the notion 'Keep Portland Wierd', my friend Amber and I invented the 'Portlaroid'! It's a creation which celebrates the wonder of analogue photography; for just $1 you can get an accurate picture of yourself, or whatever you choose to aim the camera at!

It's a wonderful invention, made entirely from cardboard boxes (it's big enough to fit a person inside!) The 'exposure time' takes between 3 - 5 minutes, so we ask customers to be patient and 'hold their poses' as much as possible..

We took The Portlaroid to Portland's 'Last Thursday on Alberta' (big arts based street fair), and to the Pearl's 'First Thursday' (another big art fair). Amber did a marvelous job at playing hostess and rolled up customers left right and centre! People loved it! And, thankfully, loved their pictures too.

Here are some photos we took (digitally) of the events:

The Portlaroid takes a trip...

Me adding some finishing touches, before climbing inside to operate the mechanisms...

Some happy customers!

Happy customers!

Happy customers!
Happy customers

I'm looking forward to taking it out, perhaps in Bristol next.... watch out for a Portlaroid near you!
